The Global Journal of Dental Specialty (GJDS) is committed to ensuring transparency, accountability, and integrity in authorship. The journal follows the recommendations of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). All individuals listed as authors must have made substantial intellectual contributions to the research and must accept responsibility for the published work.
To qualify as an author, each individual must meet all of the following criteria:
Make substantial contributions to the conception or design of the study, or to the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data.
Participate in drafting the manuscript or critically revising it for important intellectual content.
Approve the final version of the manuscript before submission and publication.
Agree to be accountable for all aspects of the work and to address any questions regarding its accuracy or integrity.
Individuals who do not meet all authorship criteria should not be listed as authors.
Individuals who contributed to the research but do not meet the criteria for authorship should be acknowledged appropriately.
Examples of contributions include:
Technical assistance.
Data collection.
Statistical support.
Language editing.
Administrative support.
Funding acquisition without intellectual contribution.
General supervision of the research group.
Contributors listed in the Acknowledgements must provide permission where required.
The corresponding author is responsible for:
Ensuring that all eligible contributors are appropriately listed as authors.
Confirming that no qualified author has been omitted.
Obtaining approval of the final manuscript from all authors.
Managing all communication with the journal during submission, peer review, and publication.
Ensuring the accuracy of author information, affiliations, and declarations.
Acting on behalf of all co-authors throughout the publication process.
Authors are encouraged to provide a clear statement describing each author's specific contributions to the work.
Contribution statements may include activities such as:
Study conception and design.
Data collection.
Data analysis and interpretation.
Investigation.
Methodology.
Writing the original draft.
Reviewing and editing the manuscript.
Supervision.
Project administration.
Funding acquisition.
Requests to add, remove, or rearrange authors after manuscript submission must:
Be submitted in writing by the corresponding author.
Include a clear explanation for the requested change.
Be supported by written consent from all authors, including any author being added or removed.
Be approved by the Editor-in-Chief before implementation.
The journal may decline authorship changes if sufficient justification is not provided.
The journal does not permit:
Gift or honorary authorship.
Guest authorship.
Ghost authorship.
Purchased authorship.
Misrepresentation of author contributions.
Unauthorized addition or removal of authors.
False affiliation or identity.
Such practices constitute publication misconduct and may result in rejection or retraction.
The journal does not arbitrate authorship disputes.
In cases of disagreement:
Authors are expected to resolve disputes among themselves or through their institutions.
Editorial processing may be suspended until the dispute is resolved.
The journal may request documentation supporting authorship claims.
COPE guidance will be followed when handling unresolved disputes.
All authors share responsibility for the integrity of the published work and are expected to:
Ensure the accuracy of the reported data.
Cooperate with editorial investigations when requested.
Disclose any errors identified after publication.
Participate in corrections or retractions when necessary.
Comply with all journal policies and ethical standards.
The Editorial Office reserves the right to:
Request clarification regarding author contributions.
Verify authorship information during editorial assessment.
Request signed authorship declarations where necessary.
Reject manuscripts involving unethical authorship practices.
Notify institutions in cases of suspected authorship misconduct, when appropriate.
The journal expects all authors to comply with:
