This paper is a critical analysis of Plato‘s view that leaders of political states must be specialists/experts for the government to be prosperous. Our endeavour in this paper is to define and critically understand the concept of specialisation in Plato and how it applies to political leadership in the state. This will help us understand what specialisation in Plato entails, the importance of having experts in political societies, and the risks of improper placement of experts in the society.
