Abstract

The writing of Mohammed Khaïr-Eddine highlights socio-cultural representations of women. This literature also presents a negative image of women. The first image of the woman suggested by the works is that of a being subjugated by the patriarchal society which restricts her freedom both socially and culturally. However, we observe that the woman can also be claimed as a space of freedom, especially when it comes to the village woman. The woman then appears as an element carrying a positive connotation since it is linked to the Berber identity very dear to Khaïr-Eddine.
